- Script
and Language:
There is only one official script and language in Therpa, it is called
"Giranic" all the names for the places, time periods, races,
etc. have a meaning and a word in the giranic language. There are dialects,
scripts and other languages besides the Giranic one, but these are only
used by the seperated races, only the Giranic language is used by all
races in Therpa.
- Time:
Therpa has day and night just like the earth has, with the difference
that two suns, shine down there and the day is 8, the night 7 hours
long, so one complete day is only 15 hours long, with another difference,
a hour called "Gazhi" is around 80 earth-minutes long. The
first 8 hours of a day, in daylight are the "Sugazhi" the
day-hours, the last 7 hours of a day, the night, are called "esagazhi"
the night-hours. To tell others the daytime the Therpanians tell it
like, it's the beginning of the 7th Sugazhi, which is like the 7th hour
of the 8 day-hours, they use various things to measure the time, but
none of their systems is really exact so they don't have an exact word
for every time-period, they normaly say, beginning, end, or middle of
the current hour of time they are in. The whole system isn't really
exact but time isn't that important in Therpa. One day, so the 15 hour
period, is called "Gaz", one year-time period, like a month
on earth is called "Azzeo" there are 14 Azzeo in one year
period meanwhile one Azzeo has 25 Gaz (days), there are no names for
each day or months, Therpanians simply use the numbers to specify the
months or days, the Giranic word for year is "Gazzeo". There
aren't seasons in Therpa like we have them on earth, every part of Therpa
has it's own climate which stays almost the same during a whole Gazzeo
period. The Therpanians or at least these who learned how to read and
write the Giranic language started counting years in the first dynasty
after the first emperor named "Therpanus" died. The comics
and stories displayed at this website play in 44 (44 years per say Gazzeo)
after the "TherpanusGazzeo" the last year of Therpanus.
- Idols
There is no real religion in Therpa, like we have them in various forms
on earth. Therpa has a kind of "Idol-Believe" were each races
have their own idols. Idols are heros, members of a race who did something
special in the past. The highest idol who has adherents in every race
is Therpanus, he was the first emperor of Therpa and also the whole
name of the world is dedicated to him. To become a "Tihagy",
the giranic word for idol, you must do something special, rare ones
were strong enough in the past to became such an idol, all idols from
one race are written into the book of idols, the "TihagyShim"
once in there, the person will be known and worshipped as idol forever.
This should clear the name of the whole series "TherpanIdols"
;), it tells about the one and only goal of every Therpanian... to become
an idol for others. The different races have different ways to worship
their idols, meanwhile some simply give their respect to their idols,
others make bloody sacrifices for their idols.
- States
Therpa isn't organised in states like the earth is. Therpa had dynasties
in the past were two emperors shared the reign of the two big continents
of Therpa, now Therpa is cut into bigger areas, which have clans and
clan-leaders who care of the welfare of their areas. These clans can
be mixed up races or a clan with member of only one race. Overall there
are still two bigger leaders, the borthers Panhema and Pavel, which
have similar rights over the two big continents like it was in the old
dinasties.
- Historical
Events
One big celebration is the day of death and the birthday of Therpanus,
the birthday is celebrated on the 3rd day of the 3rd Azzeo at the beginning
of a Gazzeo, meanwhile the day of death is celebrated on the 12th day
of the 12th Azzeo in the same Gazzeo (year). Both are big celebrations,
were the adherents of him dance and make celebratial-fights, the "Turarocque"
to show Therpanus their respect. Therpanus himself was a Gryfary, a
canine-like race, but he is always represented as mixed-races, with
a snake-like tail and wings. Therpanus' history is quite fast told,
he was a normal citizen once, in the old ages, were each clans fight
each other, because after a big drouth period all the clans were starving
and also had too less water, they fight to stay alive. Therpanus saw
that it was the own fault of each clan, they "betrayed" the
nature, they just took what they needed but never gave it back, so it
was the nature's revenge. He couldn't see his and the other clans suffer,
and killing each other just for food. He could convince his own clan
how important the balance of the nature is, so they start to work together
with the nature like a "team" this was how Therpanus explained
it once and how it was written down in various books of the first dinasty.
He learned how to use and live together with the nature in a right balance,
so that each one can exist without any limits. He even had enough courage
to walk into the area of the enemies of his clan, they attacked him
and captured him, but he could also convince the leader of this clan,
of his idea of the nature-balance and it worked out, but too many clans
were still fighting against each other, so Therpanus set a new goal
and decided to make a big walk and follow the path of the nature so
he tried to find every clan in Therpa to teach them the way of the nature.
After years in pain and captivity he returned home, old and weak, but
known by every warrior, leader, woman or child in Therpa. Following
the old written tales, Therpanus became imortal after he became the
first idol in the TihagyShim, which was a gift of the thankful nature,
which thrive and proper like never seen before in the whole world of
Therpa. Knowing that he can't stay there forever he teached Pehan how
to keep the balance and the reign of freedome and peace in Therpa. Pehan
was the father of the two brothers, Pavel and Panhema. So Therpa had
years in harmony and peace for a long time, until another big happening,
the opening of the dimension-gate, the gate into the world of the humans.
The earth approx. in medieval times, the Therpanians still don't know
how exactly they created this gate, we only know the notes of Therpanus,
who descirbed the gate as a simple crystal. The first humans arrived
and discovered this strange new world. For the humans the Therpanians
were always a stupid animal-like race, they took whatever they wanted,
Therpanus saw these changes and had to decide, he refused to give his
resources to the humans, they simply answered with war. Therpanus and
all the clans were now united and fought against one big new enemy of
another world. After a long year filled up with unequal fights, they
finally beat the human force and destroyed the crystal gate, though,
the problems weren't solved, the nature, and all the things, the clans
build in years were destroyed, the world was shortly before it's complete
downfall. The clans screamed for revenge and wanted to kill all the
left humans in Therpa, but Therpanus knew, that this wasn't the right
solution, he was in pain, togehter with the world and decided to set
an end to his life in a last sacrifice. He knew that he couldn't desire
that the Therpanians tolerated the humans in their world and what they
did, so he set a new rule together with his pupil Pehan, all the left
humans can stay and live in Therpa but not as free race, they are now
seen and treated as "Thamakils" which is the word for slave
or criminal in Giranic. Therpanus wasn't happy about this decision but
it was the only acceptable one for his people. To save the world and
it's nature he became one with it and sacrificed his immortality, he
died and his body became stone, this new energy gave the nature enough
power for a rebirth. The nature grew again and Pehan was the new emperor
of Therpa, shortly before his death he cut the big dinasty-state into
two, where each of his two sons, Pavel and Panhema, were the new emperors.
Year after year the stone body of Therpanus fall apart and became completely
one with the nature, the stone temple around this area became also a
part of the nature. Pavel became greedy and wanted to be the only emperor
like his father was before him so the collaboration of the two brothers
and emperors ended up in a fight and the whole dinasty fell appart and
stayed like it is now, a collection of small clans and their leaders.
